Understand the proposal
The llms.txt project proposes a Markdown summary with useful links for language-model consumers. It is distinct from robots.txt, which communicates crawling rules. A helpful guide can point to canonical pages and explain the site’s scope, but it should not be described as permission, a ranking signal or a guaranteed citation path.
Keep the guide factual
Use the same names and descriptions as the public pages. Include language alternatives and a genuine review date. Do not invent a business history or repeat promotional claims that have no evidence. When an answer changes, regenerate the guide from the same content source so the summary does not drift.
Prioritise the pages themselves
Google explicitly says llms.txt files do not positively or negatively change visibility or rankings in its Search systems. Useful original answers, accessible pages and accurate information therefore remain the work to do first. In this lab the file is an optional companion to the Markdown answer library, not a readiness score or a requirement for Google.
